while former pakistani premier z a bhutto had declared ahmadiyas a non-muslim minority, zia ul haque debarred them from calling azan, saying prayer, naming their prayer halls mosques and identifying themselves as muslims. the violation of any of these, in pakistan, is punishable with 3 years of rigorous imprisonment and fine. abdul hai, senior member of the pakistani ahmadiya branch, while talking to the times of india here, on saturday, said ahmadiyas who migrated to pakistan established a new city rabwa, between faisalabad and sargodha, and contributed greatly to the development of pakistan.yet, the pak government, he said, was attacking their very existence. hai wished this phase would be over some day. mirza wasim ahmed, chief of the indian ahmadiya jamat, while appreciating the exemplary tolerance shown by pak ahmadiyas, said they would project the pak government's atrocities at the international level through democratic means.while he ruled out floating a resolution against the pak government at the present convention, he maintained they would carry out their mission in a peaceful manner. he said ahmadiyas didn't support terrorism but apprehended the attacks on wto were pre-planned by jews to defame muslims. however, he didn't specify any jewish organisation. ''in india, we fear khatme nabuat conference (knc), an anti-ahmadiya conference that, with help from local muslim fundamentalists, is bent upon declaring them a non-muslim community.'' mirza wasim ahmed alleged knc activists were getting financial support form arab countries, adding, their activists were specifically targeting ahmadiyas. wasim said, due to their liberal image and their abiding by the teachings of islam, their number in india was constantly rising. mobashar ahmed tahir, humidudin nasir and anish ahmed chaudhary, delegates from germany, said around 80,000 ahmadiyas were constantly in touch with amnesty international, other human rights organisations and their governments for conveying monthly reports of atrocities being committed on ahmadiyas in pakistan. mubashan ahmed kahlon, an agriculturist from pakistan said, at present, the pak government has taken a neutral stance towards them as it itself is in trouble.
