BATHINDA: After completion of the wheat harvesting season,

farmers

have started returning to protest sites on Delhi borders. A number of farmers reached Singhu border in tractor trollies on Thursday.

Sanyukt Kisan Morcha

(SKM) said more farmers would join the protest on Delhi borders in the days to come.

Morcha leaders alleged that the social media accounts covering farmers’ movement were constantly under attack. Earlier, the Facebook and Instagram pages of

Kisan Ekta Morcha

, the official social media platform of SKM, were temporarily suspended. Thereafter, other independent pages related to the movement were suspended. The government also banned internet at protest sites and now, Twitter handles of supporters, who had been sharing information related to the farmers’ movement, have been suspended. They alleged that the Facebook account of Ravi Singh, CEO of Khalsa Aid, which has been continuously helping the farmers’ movement and helping citizens during the Covid pandemic, has also been suspended. Demanding reactivation of these accounts, SKM leaders said the act was akin to government’s attack on independent journalism and social workers.

Sanyukt Kisan Morcha on Thursday also condoled the demise of farmer leader and former agriculture minister Chaudhary Ajit Singh. The morcha hailed as Ajit Singh as someone who followed in the footsteps of his father, former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh and openly supported the farmers’ movement.
