Shimla: After receiving 28% excess rainfall this month, Himachal Pradesh is set for another spell of inclement weather from April 24 to 28, the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, said on Wednesday.
The centre has also issued a yellow alert for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Hamirpur districts, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds from April 25 to 28. The forecast added there could be snowfall in the higher reaches of the state during the period.
The state has recorded above-normal rainfall this month, getting 61.2mm rain up to April 22 against the normal of 47.9mm.
The rain prediction would come as a relief from the hot weather. During the day, Una was the hottest town in Himachal Pradesh, recording a maximum temperature of 38.7°C. It was followed by 35.2°C in Kangra, 35°C in Sundernagar, 34.7°C in Berthin, 34.4°C in Mandi, 31.5°C in Solan, and 33°C in Bhuntar. Among the tourist destinations, Dharamshala was the hottest, recording a maximum temperature of 31°C. It was followed by 26.5°C in Shimla and 26.3°C in Manali.
