Advocate Vikas Malik elected as president of HCBA

CHANDIGARH: Advocate Vikas Malik has been elected as the president of Punjab and Haryana high court bar association (HCBA). Malik has defeated his nearest rival Onkar Singh Batalvi. A total of five candidates were in fray for the post of president. Malik was polled 1536 votes, Onkar Singh Batalvi got 848 votes, Sapan Dhir was polled 778 votes, N K Banka was polled 44 and Chauhan Satvinder Singh Sisodia was polled only 36 votes for the post of president.

Malik has been elected for the coveted post for the first time. He had earlier served as the vice-president of the high court bar association in 2020-21. Advocate Jasdev Brar has been elected as vice president defeating his nearest rival, Nilesh Bhardwaj. Brar was polled 1618 votes and Bhardwaj was polled 1511 votes. Similarly, Swaran Tiwana has been elected as secretary, Parveen Dahiya as Joint secretary and Sunny Namdev has been appointed as treasurer of the HCBA. The elections were held by the election committee headed by senior advocate B S Rana.
