Chandigarh: As the Chandigarh administration is planning to formulate a policy for allotment of land for institutional and cultural purposes in the city, it has sought details of auctions conducted by various departments and boards in the recent past. In Chandigarh, collector rates are the parameters for auctioning of land for commercial, institutional and cultural purposes.
In the recent e-auction of Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), there were no takers for the properties. The board had invited bids for the sale of 25 built-up properties, including 23 residential and two commercial, on freehold basis.

In the recent instructions, various departments have been asked to provide details, like status of vacant properties, of those put up for auction in the recent past, of successful auctions, and of properties that did not find any takers. UT adviser Dharam Pal had recently directed the UT deputy commissioner to work on the rationalisation of collector rates as per the current market situation.
