CHANDIGARH: The admission process for the upcoming session in government colleges of the city has begun. Though it was announced earlier that there will not be any printed prospectus and website for the admission (www.dhechd.org) would be accessible from June 6, most of the students are looking for other options for applying for admission.
"We were informed that we could have copy of the admission form from the college, but now that we know it's being conducted online we can go for the online procedure.
Last time one of our friends faced a lot of trouble in filling the form online as the server was down most of the time," said Karanbir, a BSc applicant.
One of the problems being faced by these students is lack of awareness. They don't know about the change in system and procedure of admission. "We didn't know about the online procedure for the upcoming session and were informed on the college premises only when we went there for admission forms," said Abhishek, another B Sc applicant from Chandigarh.
He added, "In comparison to offline modes of applying for admission, the online process is much easier to carry out."
Achila Dogra, principal of PGGCG-11 said, "We have circulated notices in this regard, In fact, there's a copy of notice on the main gate of the college too. Also, the information has been appeared in almost all publications. The students should be aware of the latest information and news."
However, there are students who are updated and have complete knowledge of the whole scenario but there are various students that they are facing trouble accessing the site. "I tried filling the form online but the site is taking too long to retrieve" said Rajni, a first-year applicant.
There is no offline method for admissions and the online submission of application is free of cost. Once the student has filled the online form, one has to submit its hardcopy in the college along with registration fees.
Helpline number will be provided for the assistance of students to fill up online admission forms from June 8 (8 am to 1:30pm, Monday to Friday) in all government colleges as notified. The last day for submission of online form is June 25 (except for BCom-I). The last date for submission of the hardcopy is June 29 till 2pm.
