in charge Durgest Pathak said the party was going to launch an all-out election campaign in the constituency after party supremo and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s rally there on December 14. “We will field a big face of the party in Majitha, he may or may not be a local candidate. We will announce the name during the rally ,” said Pathak while talking to TOI on Tuesday.

The party has given the charge of organizing the rally to Pathak, and has also sent a team to the constituency to study the people’s mindset, development claims of government, issues on which the party can take on its opponents, find a suitable candidate, trace fence-sitters, and preparations for the rally.

AAP would have its work cut out in Majitha. In the 2012 elections, Majithia — who happens to be the son-in-law of CM Parkash Singh Badal — had won the from seat by a massive margin of 47,851 votes.

Stating that the party had a well-established organizational

structure at booth and village level

in Majitha, Pathak said, “People of Majitha want a change.”

When asked about the development work carried out by the government in Majitha, Pathak replied, “Youth are dying of drugs. Who will care if a particular road is well laid in this scenario?”

AAP spokesperson for Majha zone Gurbhej Singh said volunteers were being assigned duties for the preparation of Kejriwal’s rally. “There is an enthusiasm among voters of Majitha. Like the rest of Punjab, they want a change for good,” he said. Sources informed that AAP’s think-tanks had planned to keep Majithia busy in his constituency to dilute his concentration in the rest of Punjab during election campaigning.
