CHANDIGARH: Though monsoons have brought respite from the searing heat, health experts foresee an outbreak of vector and water-born diseases in the season.
Doctors have advised residents to take precautionary measures and opt for a healthy living to prevent ailments.
Dr Navneet Sharma, department of internal medicine, PGI said, "Around 30-40 cases of hepatitis A, E, typhoid, cholera, leptospirosis, are recorded on a daily basis after the pre-monsoon showers.

Viral fever & malaria cases have also risen. Residents must ensure that stagnant water is not accumulated in the surroundings. Boiled or filtered water is highly recommended."
Dr Virendra kumar, general hospital, sector 6 said, "All fever-related diseases spread due to mosquitoes, flies and rats. Surroundings should be dry and clean and vegetables should be washed with clean water and then steamed to kill germs. Drink plenty of water to remain hydrated."
Dr Deepak Bhatia, Punjab health department added that walking in dirty water during rainy season might lead to fungal infections on toes and in nails. A software professional, Arunesh Shrivastav said, "I had got ill twice since pre-monsoon showers. I am fed up of the cough and cold that has confined me to my house."
