CHANDIGARH: Three units each at Lehra Mohabbat, Ropar and Bathinda thermal plants continued to be non-functional on Monday, leaving Punjab with gross power generation of 1,356 mega watt (MW). The hydropower units contributed 224MW of electricity.
Power generation has been badly hit as only two units at Ropar thermal plant were operational on Sunday and the remaining units were not operating either due to coal conserving policy of PSPCL or delay in restoration of tripped units.

The units, which tripped could not be revived even a day after as engineers are on work-to-rule. Sources said that fresh supply of coal that had been dispatched for Punjab would take a couple of days to reach the thermal plants.
