BATHINDA: At least nine people died, and 11 were injured when a light commercial vehicle (LCV) collided head-on with a truck near Mohan Ke Uttar village in the Guru Harsahai subdivision of Ferozepur district on Friday morning.

As per reports, the accident occurred due to fog.

20 people, mainly working as waiters, were travelling in the LCV at the time of the accident to reach some place in Jalalabad area to provide their services.

Six of the seriously injured were taken to Faridkot hospital while others were rushed to Jalalabad hospital.
The dead bodies have been kept in mortuary at civil hospital Jalalabad.

Knowing about the accident, the locals assembled at the accident site and informed the administration.

Initially the locals indulged in rescue operations to pull out the injured. The five ambulances were pressed into service to take the injured to the hospital.

Ferozepur deputy commissioner directed the district officials to rush to the spot and various hospitals to provide every possible assistance to the injured so that they could be saved with timely intervention.
