CHANDIGARH: The

Independence Day parade

at Sector 17 rest on the shoulders of more than 800 police personnel. Two superintendents of police will supervise a team of 6 DSPs, 30 inspectors, and more than 700 cops, who will also secure the houses of the Punjab and Hayrana governors on Tuesday during the ‘At home’ ceremonies.

Superintendent of police (law and order) Roshan Lal said that besides this deployment, there will be a special search operation at the bus stands and railway station in the days leading up to August 15.

Besides sensitive areas such as Colony Number 4, Dhanas, Daria, Ramdarbar, and Manimajra, all hotels and guest houses in the city will be checked. Police will deploy sharp shooters at the buildings around the

parade venue.



There will be no parking of vehicles outside the shops of Sector 22-A from 6am to the end of the official UT function.

At more than 100 checkpoints, including those in outer parts, police will scan all vehicles coming in or leaving. The night traps will stay from 10pm to 2am.

Police have appealed to the citizens to report if they find any suspicious object and person around them. They can call 100 and their identity will be kept secret.
