7k landless families to get 100-sq-yard plots soon; govt jobs, women’s welfare and anti-corruption reforms announced: CM Haryana
LADWA (KURUKSHETRA): Haryana chief minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced a series of welfare, housing, employment and governance reforms, stating that the state government would soon allot 100-square-yard residential plots to 7,000 landless and needy families across the state. These beneficiaries will also be linked with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, under which they will receive financial assistance for house construction.
Addressing thanksgiving and public interaction programmes in villages Prahladpur, Badarpur, Bani, Budha and Bapdi in his Ladwa constituency, the CM said that under the chief minister Urban Housing Scheme, around 15,500 families have already been provided 30-sq-yard plots, and eligible applicants will soon receive the second instalment of additional 30-sq-yard plots. He also announced that the state government would shortly release new government recruitment notifications for various posts to provide employment opportunities to youth.
During the programmes, CM Saini personally heard villagers’ written complaints and directed officials to resolve them on the spot. He announced Rs 21 lakh each for development works in Prahladpur, Badarpur and Bani villages. For Prahladpur, the CM sanctioned Rs 47.46 lakh for drinking water pipelines and Rs 11 lakh for community hall construction, assuring that all demands placed by Sarpanch Suman Saini would be fulfilled. In Badarpur, he approved Rs 43.31 lakh for water supply pipelines and assured the fulfilment of all 16 demands raised by Sarpanch Karamvir. Similar assurances were given for village Bani.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to youth, CM Saini said that a promise was made in the election manifesto to issue appointment letters even before the oath-taking ceremony. “For the first time in Haryana’s history, 25,000 youths were given government jobs purely on merit and without any bribes or recommendations,” he said.
CM Saini outlined several social welfare initiatives, stating that free dialysis services are being provided in all government hospitals, medical colleges and health universities. Women from families with annual income below Rs 1.80 lakh are being given LPG cylinders for Rs 500, benefitting around 15 lakh women. He urged eligible women who are still left out to apply for the scheme.
On agriculture, CM Saini said Haryana has become the first state in the country to implement MSP on all 24 crops. Farmers affected by recent waterlogging have been compensated with Rs 116 crore, while Rs 430 crore has been transferred under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana for market losses. He also said families living on panchayat land houses would be given ownership rights at 2004 collector rates.
Speaking on women empowerment, CM Saini said the Lado Laxmi Yojana, providing Rs 2,100 per month, has already benefited 10 lakh women, with two instalments released. He announced that women from families with income up to Rs 1.40 lakh are now eligible to apply through the mobile app, with 3,000–4,000 applications received daily.
Later, addressing gatherings in Budha and Bapdi villages, the CM announced Rs 21 lakh each for development works and additional Rs 32.27 lakh for water pipelines in Bapdi.
The CM also detailed anti-corruption reforms in land registration, stating that the registry system has been made fully online with fixed timelines. If a tehsildar fails to complete registration on time without valid reasons, responsibility will shift to senior officials and action will be taken, he said.
CM Saini assured that there would be no shortage of funds for development in Ladwa constituency, adding that citizens need not visit Chandigarh as grievance redressal camps are regularly held locally. He also announced an increase in old-age pension to Rs 3,200 per month, the highest in the country, along with Rs 5 lakh free treatment under Ayushman Bharat for senior citizens above 70 years.
Several ministers, senior officials and local representatives were present on the occasion.
