6 farmers hospitalized after tear gas shelling at Punjab-Haryana border
PATIALA: Six more farmers were hospitalized at Rajpura government hospital on Sunday following fresh tear gas shelling by Haryana Police at the Punjab-Haryana interstate point near Shambhu. Doctors revealed that one of the injured was referred to Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, while another was sent to PGI Chandigarh due to critical injuries.
On December 6, around 17 farmers were also injured during tear gas shelling at the Punjab-Haryana interstate border near Shambhu. Among them, three sustained serious injuries and were kept under observation at CHC Rajpura and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. One of the injured was discharged on Friday after receiving first aid, while the remaining were discharged on Saturday.
SMO Dr Sonia Jangwal stated that out of the six injured farmers hospitalized at CHC Rajpura, two were referred to higher medical institutes, although their injuries were not life-threatening. She added that the remaining four are under observation at CHC Rajpura for at least 24 hours.
