Jind: The Jind police on Wednesday paraded six operatives linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in a market following their arrest in an attempted extortion case.The accused were arrested for allegedly demanding Rs 2 crore as ransom from a trader, Anoop of Titoli village of Rohtak, and threatening to kill his family if the demand was not met. An FIR was registered against them on March 25. Superintendent of police Kuldeep Singh, in a media meet, said the accused — Ayush of Sonipat, Akash, Aditya Bhardwaj, Yash Khatri, Ankit Kumar and Aditya Khatri, all from Delhi — were formally arrested from Sonipat jail on production warrants. Police said the accused purchased mobile phones and SIM cards to execute their plan. They were produced before a court, which remanded them in three-day police custody. The SP said all the accused are between 18 and 22 years of age, and some have criminal backgrounds.
