435 liquor boxes seized from canter

Panchkula: Police claimed to have seized 435 boxes of liquor meant for sale in Chandigarh from a canter on the road dividing sectors 26 and 27.Cops said they received a tip-off about a vehicle carrying booze illegally for dry states of Gujarat and Bihar. Cops said they stopped the canter bearing registration number HR-69-D-0181 at a naka. The driver, Sajid Hussain, a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan, tried to escape but was caught. Cops said he claimed he had loaded goods of a company in his vehicle. However, police found 435 liquor boxes, including 144 boxes of country-made liquor and 291 of foreign made liquor. Cops said Sajid had loaded the liquor at the transport area parking lot in Sector 26.
