FARIDKOT: A regional level technical festival ''Scintilla'' was organised on Wednesday at Adesh Institute of Engineering and Technology here.
Around 400 delegates from technical institutions of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pardesh, Chandigarh and Delhi participated in different events such as paper presentation, debate, group discussion, on the spot software development, technical quiz and creative writing.
The executive secretary of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Dr HP Sinha was the chief guest on the occasion.
Talking to media persons Sinha said that though India did not lack talent in engineering in any way but due to lack of engineering colleges in the country it was much behind developed countries in this field.
Appreciating the recent Supreme Court decision of slashing fees in technical institutions, Sinha said that it would provide opportunities to poorer sections of society to get technical education.
The principal of Adesh Institute VK Sud told that it was the first festival in the institution. He praised the ISTE for supporting technical institutions to organise such festivals to encourage students to innovate in the field of science and technology.
