“Only ten days ago a compromise before the village panchayat was made between the accused husband

Lakhwinder Singh

and his wife Jyoti. The accused had tortured her physically two weeks ago ,” said station house officer (SHO) Banur S S Bhinder.

Police said a case under sections of abetment to suicide has been registered under Indian Penal Code against the accused Lakhwinder Singh and his sister-in-law Rani. The two are yet to be arrested.

“We had come to know that the foetus was a male, which clearly indicates that no sex determination was done. Lakhwinder used to fight with the Jyoti over an issue of giving birth to daughters. We haven’t found any angle of murder but it will only be clear after getting the autopsy reports, ” added the SHO.
