MOGA: Four persons were sentenced to life on Friday by a Moga court for killing a youth in 2009. The additional sessions judge Gurjant Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each on the convicts. Those awarded life term are Gurpreet Singh, Parminder Singh, Surinder Singh and Sandeep Singh. Three other persons were acquitted in the case for want of evidence. All are residents of Chuharchak village. Police had registered a murder case on November 5, 2009, against seven persons for killing Jiwan Singh, a resident of Chuharchak. The prosecution contended that the accused conspired to eliminate Jiwan for allegedly playing vulgar songs while driving his tractor in the village.10-year-old girl molested by priest Phagwara: A 10-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a village gurdwara priest on August 22, police said on Friday. Phagwara DSP Manpreet Singh Dhillon said accused Roshan Singh tried to molest the girl but she ran away. When the panchayat could not resolve the matter, it was reported to police by the girl's mother, he added. The priest has been booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC, he said, adding, efforts were on to nab the accused.
