30-yr-old painter killed in Amritsar

Amritsar: A 30-year-old painter, Gurjit Singh, was allegedly murdered in a residential colony here following a dispute over unpaid dues.The victim's brother, Karan, informed mediapersons that Gurjit had gone to a client's house to demand the pending amount of Rs 1.20 lakh in lieu of a painting work. However, he was attacked with sticks and iron rods.
Gurjit was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries, he added.The police said they had started a probe and were scanning CCTV footage besides recording the statements.Gurjit is survived by wife and a two-month-old daughter. He got married just one year ago.
