3 women snatchers targeting men taking a leak held

Mohali: Police on Friday claimed to have busted a gang of snatchers, with the arrest of three women. The gang used to target men relieving themselves in Bir forest area on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway near Lalru and was active for last six months, said assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Darpan Ahluwalia. The accused are Poonam Rani (40) and Suman, both residents of Lalru, and Gori (30) of Ambala Cantt. While Poonam is married with two children, Gori is a widow with two children and Suman is separated from her husband. She has one child. All of them were doing housekeeping job in housing colony. None of them has a criminal background. Explaining their modus operandi, the ASP said, “As a person used to enter the wooded area to answer a call of nature, the women waiting for them used to strike escape towards Ambala side.”
