3 teens hired to fire at financier’s office in Rajpura: Police

Patiala: Police here have arrested three 19-year-old youth along with two pistols for allegedly opening fire at a financier's office in Rajpura around three weeks ago.Police said Rohit Kumar of Nalas village in Rajpura, Akaashdeep Singh of Bakshiwala village, and Damanpreet Singh of Pilkhani village, have been arrested. They allegedly opened firing at the behest of some other person who had a rivalry with the financer.Police said Rajpura-based financier Sarabjit Singh’s brother Sohan Singh was killed by Gurvinder Singh and others at a local service station in 2018, following which Gurvinder Singh was facing trial in the case of murder. Police claimed that Gurvinder had been absent for long in the case and failed to appear before court.Police claimed that all three accused were Class XII pass. The police said they were continuing investigation into the case and the weapons and bike used in the crime had been confiscated from the possession of the accused. Police also claimed that links of the arrested accused were found with persons sitting abroad and a detailed investigation was being carried out in the matter.
