LUDHIANA: A jail superintendent, along with his two employees, was suspended for beating up a woman jail employee and her family here on Sunday night. Orders pertaining to his suspension were released by ADGP, prisons, A P Bhatnagar on Tuesday.
S K Bansal, jail superintendent for the hostel in the Central Jail complex, Ludhiana, along with his gunman, Bandhu Singh, and another employee, Mohinder Singh, have been suspended.
The three had allegedly beaten up one Surinder Kaur, the store-keeper in the Women''s Jail at Ludhiana on Sunday night at her residence in the jail residential quarters. The trio had also beaten up Surinder Kaur''s daughter, Anuradha, and her nephew.
Surinder Kaur immediately went to the Civil Hospital and got a medical legal report (MLR) done. She then proceeded to meet ADGP, Prisons, A P Bhatnagar in Chandigarh on Monday morning.
Surinder Kaur also complained to the Tajpur police picket and jail superintendent of threats she faced from Bansal before the incident took place. Bhatnagar then issued orders for suspension of the trio on Tuesday.
It is learnt that Bansal''s son was to be engaged to Surinder Kaur''s daughter on August 3, but the ceremony was cancelled due to some misunderstanding between the families August 1.
