25 Punjab cops honoured for gallantry, service
Chandigarh: On the eve of 75th Republic Day, the union ministry of home affairs announced awards to 25 Punjab Police officials, recognising their outstanding services.
Those who have been bestowed with the ‘Medal for Gallantry’ include anti-gangster task force (AGTF) DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar, DSP Dalbir Singh, sub-inspector Rahul Sharma, ASI Jagjit Singh, ASI Baljinder Singh, ASI Malkeet Singh, head constable Surinderpal Singh and late senior constable Mandeep Singh (posthumous).

AGTF chief ADGP Promod Ban as well as PPS officer AIG intelligence-1 Swarandeep Singh have been conferred with ‘President’s Medal for Distinguished Service’.
Four PPS officers - DCP investigation Jalandhar Harvinder Singh Virk; joint director (complaint cell) vigilance bureau Digvijay Kapil; DSP CID Mansa Kuldeep Singh and DSP PRTC Jahan-Khelan Gurjitpal Singh are among 16 cops who have been selected for the ‘Medal for Meritorious Service’. The remaining officials include inspectors Satnam Singh, Amandeep Singh and Sucha Singh; Sub Inspectors Gulshan Singh, Raj Kumar (CP Amritsar), Raj Kumar (ISTC Kapurthala), Sanjeev Kumar, Ramesh Chand; ASIs Gurwinder Singh, Balbir Chand and Deepak Kumar, and platoon commander Punjab Anish Kumar.
Punjab Police chief Gaurav Yadav congratulated the awardees and expressed gratitude to the central government and the state government for recognising the services of these officers and boosting the morale of the entire Punjab police force.
