Chandigarh: Two Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members who had supported the candidature of Bibi Jagir Kaur for the post of SGPC president joined the
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday.
Welcoming Harpal Singh Jalla from Payal and Amrik Singh Janaitpur from Ambala to the party fold, SAD president
Sukhbir Singh Badal said that another 10 to 15 SGPC members who had supported Bibi would return to the party in the coming days.
He also appealed to all leaders who had left the party during the last few years to rejoin their mother party. “If I am at fault anywhere, I apologize for the same. We must all unite to defeat the forces who want to weaken the Panth,” he said.
Although Jalla was earlier part of the SAD, Janaitpur is an independent member of the SGPC. The SAD president said that earlier this week another SGPC member
Harpreet Singh Garcha had rejoined the party along with his father and former minister
Jagdish Singh Garcha. He added that the SGPC members have realised that Bibi was part of a diabolic conspiracy to weaken the Panth by dividing the Sikh community.
