MALERKOTLA: Two schoolgirls died while two others suffered serious injuries on Wednesday when a car hit their two-wheelers near Ratolan village of Sangrur district. According to reports, the four students from Bhanbhouri village were on their way back after attending a coaching class in Malerkotla town.
The Class-XI students were identified as Krishna, Manpreet Kaur, Arshjeet Kaur and Harmeet Kaur.
A teacher riding a motorcycle was also hit by the car. The injured were rushed to the Malerkotla hospital where Krishna was declared brought dead, whereas Arshjeet died at a Ludhiana hospital. Manpreet, Harmeet, teacher Gurwinder Singh, car driver Daljit Singh and his companion Gurvinder Singh were referred to a hospital in Ludhiana. Arshjeet's relative Harjit Singh said that the car was being driven at a very high speed. Himtana police post in charge Surinder Bhalla said that a case had been registered against the car driver.
