2 power dept staffers held for theft

Chandigarh: Police arrested two contractual employees of the electricity department for allegedly stealing four floodlights from the police complex in Dhanas on Thursday. Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Mohali, and Hardev Pal, a resident of Ambala, would be produced before a local court on Friday. Both accused were posted in Sector 4. Balbir Singh, a cop residing at the police complex, said he spotted the two removing the floodlights in broad daylight and caught them while they were trying to escape. Initially, the accused told cops they were sent by a junior engineer of the electricity department, but their lie was caught. TNN
