Accused Harwinder Singh ‘Prince’ and Prem Singh ‘Ekam’ are from Salempur Sekhan village, while the former now lives in Rajpura. They were booked under Section 153-A (promoting enmity between groups on religious grounds) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 3 (penalty for defacement) of the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1985, at Kotwali police station.
Patiala SSP Deepak Parik said: “Harwinder joined the ring during his two years in Malaysia and kept in touch on WhatsApp when back. The handlers directed him to stick these posters across Punjab and transferred money to him. He picked up the posters from a decided spot and stuck those at Ambala Cantonment, Rajpura’s Aryan College, Patiala’s Kali Mata Temple, Sheetala Mata Temple’s traffic sign, and Patiala’s Sanauri Adda.”
The SSP said the accused planned to stick posters near Independence Day venues, Mohali DC office, and government buildings of Chandigarh, Kasauli, and Solan. tnn
