11 years of horror: Man held for sexual abuse, forced abortion of daughter
Panchkula: In a deeply distressing case, an 18-year-old girl has accused her father of subjecting her to years of physical, mental and sexual abuse, a trauma she says began when she was just seven.
Police have arrested the man following the survivor’s complaint. He has been produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
According to police, the survivor approached the women’s cell at Kalka police station on May 11, recounting a childhood marked by fear and repeated assault. She alleged that the accused would target her during the day in her mother’s absence, often under the influence of alcohol. Any resistance, she said, was met with violence, verbal abuse and threats to her life.
In a particularly painful revelation, the survivor said she became pregnant while in Class 9 due to the abuse and was allegedly forced to terminate the pregnancy after being made to consume unidentified medication.
The ordeal continued for years until last Friday, when another assault and threat pushed her to finally seek help.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including rape by a person in a position of trust, causing hurt and criminal intimidation, along with Section 6 of the POCSO Act dealing with aggravated sexual assault.
The victim was medically examined at civil hospital, Sector 6, and her statement recorded before a magistrate. Police said she is now receiving professional counselling to cope with the trauma.
ACP Vikram Nehra said the investigation is underway, with officials focusing on ensuring support and protection for the survivor while pursuing the case against the accused.
