10 suffer critical burns in LPG cylinder blast in Yamunanagar village
Yamunanagar: At least 10 people, including women and children, suffered severe burn injuries after an LPG cylinder blast triggered a fire in labour quarters at Bherthal village in Yamunanagar district on Thursday morning.A seven-year-old girl was also injured after a portion of a wall collapsed following the blast. Officials said the incident took place at 8.20am. All 10 victims were first taken to civil hospital, Jagadhri, and later referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh, due to the seriousness of their injuries.Hospital authorities said the victims had suffered 50-60% burns.Dr Anuj Mangla, medical superintendent of civil hospital, Jagadhri, identified the injured as Ram Sharan (43), Renu (40), Shanti (8), Vishrani (10), Subhni (5), Paro (2 months), Sangeeta (18), Neha, Ramgyan (43) and Vijyanti (6).Police said the seven-year-old girl, Anshu, was injured in the wall collapse but was not referred to Chandigarh as her injuries were not burn-related.On receiving information, Jagadhri Sadar police station SHO Tarsem Kumar reached the spot and helped shift some of the injured to hospital in his official vehicle, while govt ambulances later joined the rescue effort. Police said the victims belonged to labour families working in nearby factories and living in quarters in the village. The exact cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained and investigation is underway.
