Bhubaneswar: Naveen Nivas, the residence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik witnessed a mad rush on Friday, the first morning of the New Year, as people from different walks of life made a beeline to wish Naveen.
The police had a tough time controlling the scores of cars and SUVs of the BJD ministers, MLAs and MPs that were parked on either sides of the road from Palaspalli Square to Old Airport Square.

Security personal engaged inside the chief minister's residence were also extra vigilant.
With bouquet in hand, a number of ministers, BJD MLAs, MPs jostled to offer bouquets to the boss.
Naveen accepted bouquets from the visitors and exchanged greetings. "May New Year bring cheer and prosperity to all," said Naveen in his official Twitter handle, (Naveen_Odisha). In the morning, Naveen rushed to Raj Bhavan to greet Governor S C Jamir.
Among others who were in the queue at Naveen Nivas were agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy, higher education minister Pradeep Panigrahy, health and family welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, culture and tourism minister Ashok Panda and Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani. The common wish among the leaders was that for a prosperous Odisha.
Panchayati raj minister Arun Kumar Sahoo, who reached Naveen Nivas the earliest, said, "I hope for prosperity for the people of the state. Under the dynamic leadership of the chief minister, I hope Odisha finds a unique place on the world map."
Naveen, who attended office in the second half at the Secretariat remained busy in exchanging greetings from bureaucrats, journalists and employee associations of different state government departments.
Congress and BJP leaders from different parts of the state also arrived at the state capital to greet their leaders on the New Year. The bureaucrats also lined up in the state secretariat to greet chief secretary A P Padhi on beginning of the calendar year.
