Watch: Odia actors spar at DCP office premises in Bhubaneswar, video goes viral

BHUBANESWAR: To many, it seemed like a film shoot was taking place. Two popular actors, Manoj Mishra and Bobby Islam, were having a go at each other on Friday morning. But this was not being staged for the camera. Instead, the two were engaged in heated argument on the premises of the DCP's office, forcing police to intervene.


A dispute had been simmering between them over some comments, and the two had come to the DCP office to resolve the issue. But before a solution could be reached, the situation turned ugly. The two were then asked to come to the police commissioner's office, where both were counselled.

"We looked into the criminal part based on the complaints lodged in the police station and counselled them not to indulge in mudslinging," said DCP Pinak Mishra.

Police said a case of criminal intimidation was reported at Chandrasekharpur police station based on Manoj's complaint. Another case was registered against Manoj at Dargahabazar police station in Cuttack following Bobby's complaint.

"Apparently, the bone of contention is Manoj's opposition to the use of a word in the title of a film that a producer is making. On the other hand, Bobby alleged that Manoj has been casting aspersions on the Odia film industry," a police officer said.

Asked about Friday morning's incident, Manoj told TOI, "Bobby used the first word of the movie to call me, giving a derogatory twist when he landed at the DCP office. I didn't attack anybody. Bobby even used the word for me at a show. That's why I lodged a police complaint."

Despite repeated attempts, Bobby was unavailable for comment.
