Veteran actor Uttam Mohanty critical, airlifted to Delhi hosp

Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia actor Uttam Mohanty, who suffers from liver cirrhosis, was airlifted to a private hospital in Delhi on Saturday evening after his condition turned critical.
Mohanty, aged 66, was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Bhubaneswar three day ago. He was also put on ventilator support, sources said. Arrangements are being made to airlift the veteran actor to Delhi for advanced treatment, his son Babushaan told the media earlier.
"Uttam Mohanty is undergoing treatment for cirrhosis of the liver. He is in the ICU, and his condition is stable. We discussed with his family about his health. We are making arrangements to shift him. He is on organ support, so he can be transferred through air ambulance," said Manoj Sahu, head of the department of gastroenterology of the hospital.
Soon after news of his poor health spread, his fans, admirers, and well-wishers expressed their support on social media platforms.
Mohanty acted in more than 150 Odia films, as well as 30 Bengali films and a Hindi film, ‘Naya Zaher'. Mohanty's wife, Aparajita, is also an actor.
