Valuables worth Rs 1cr looted from bizman’s house

Berhampur: Unidentified miscreants looted valuables worth over Rs 1 crore from the house of a businessman at Prem Nagar under Bada Bazar police station limits here on Wednesday morning. The incident took place, when the house owner, who was staying alone, went for the morning walk at about 4.45 am, police said.The miscreants allegedly entered the house by breaking the lock of the entrance door of the house and looted the valuables, including gold ornaments weighing around 1 kg and Rs 1.20 lakh cash by breaking three almirahs located in ground and first floors of the house. After returning from the morning walk around 10.30 am, the house owner, E Raja Prabhakar Rao, saw that the lock with which he had locked the main door was not in place. Instead, there was a small lock. After entering the house, he found that the almirah locks were broken and gold ornaments and cash looted.He immediately informed police. "A police team along with the dog squad rushed to the spot for inquiry," said SP (Berhampur) Saravana Vivek M. A special team has formed for investigation of the incident, he said. Patrolling was intensified in the nearby area to nab the miscreants, police said. Police said there was no CCTV in the house. The footage of the CCTV, installed around 50-ft away from the targeted house, have been seized for verification. Police suspected some local miscreants might have been involved in the incident.
