Three drown, one missing in Jajpur

A pall of gloom descended on Jajpur district after three persons, including two brothers, drowned and another minor boy went missing while bathing in two different ghats of Baitarani river on Thursday.

BHUBANESWAR: A pall of gloom descended on Jajpur district after three persons, including two brothers, drowned and another minor boy went missing while bathing in two different ghats of Baitarani river on Thursday.
While Gopal Mishra (17) of Belarpur village drowned at Devi Ghat, three brothers, Shiba Behera (10), Kanha Behera (10) and Gudu Behera (12), were sucked into the river at Tarini Ghat.

While bodies of Shiba and Gudu were recovered, Kanha was untraceable till evening, police sources said.
"The three brothers were swept away while bathing on a lonely stretch of the river. Their parents informed us when none of them returned home till late afternoon. During search, two bodies were recovered," said inspector of Jajpur Town police station A R Mohanty. "Fire brigade personnel are still looking for Kanha," Mohanty said. The brothers belonged to a poor family of Gariapur village, police added.
