Teachers protest over ‘lack’ of benefits

Bhubaneswar: Thousands of primary teachers hit the streets here on Tuesday over their eight-point charter of demands, including cancellation of their deputation, abolition of the ex-cadre provision, and cadre inclusion provision from March 1, 2017.
They are also demanding their salary be disbursed through treasury and implementation of the old pension scheme.The teachers were marching towards the assembly when police blocked their way leading to a minor clash. “Despite being regularised since 2017, we have been deprived of several government benefits. We are not getting our salary from the treasury nor are we getting any increments. We have not been included in the pension scheme,” said a teacher.TNN
