BHUBANESWAR: The special task force (STF) of state Crime Branch has turned the heat against gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito’s wife Benazir Bibi, suspecting her of abetting his crime syndicate. STF’s deputy inspector general Himanshu Lal said she would soon be questioned.
The STF had arrested Tito, 56, following an encounter in Jajpur district on June 30.

Tito, who was arrested several times by police in the past, is a known history-sheeter having more than 50 cases of murder, attempt to murder and extortion against him.
“We found that Tito purchased bulk of his assets in name of his wife. Tito earned quick money through unfair and illegal means (tender fixing and extortion). His wife’s suspected complicity with his crime networks is being examined. A team led by a lady inspector would question her at her house,” Lal told TOI.
Last week, the STF sealed two fuel filling stations, registered in Bibi’s name. While one petrol pump is located in Paradip, the other one is in Kendrapada. STF said an inquiry is being conducted to find out how Bibi managed to own petrol pumps without having any sources of income. “We suspect Tito got the petrol pumps done for his wife. We will find out how a criminal like him managed to get fuel stations for his wife,” superintendent of police (STF) Satyajit Naik said. STF said Tito owned several benami assets in names of his friends and relatives.
