Responding to a query by Congress MLA Suresh Chandra Routray on Dhauli’s development during the question hour, Patra said the master plan for Dhauli hill development will be unveiled soon.

Patra said the move aims to include Dhauli in the country’s religious tourism circuit. “Dhauli is a major Buddhist stupa and devotees from across the world visit the place all through the year. The master plan will include the development of infrastructure and amenities for tourists,” he said.

Though Patra did not mention the project’s estimated cost, officials said more than Rs 100 crore will be spent for the purpose. The development of Dhauli hill will be initiated under the Integrated Development of Heritage and Monuments and Tourist Destinations scheme.
