Kendrapada: A 58-year-old chief engineer aboard the container ship ‘MV SSL Sabarimalai’ was found dead on Tuesday morning. Authorities suspect that he died of an illness and said a post-mortem would be conducted to determine the exact cause.
The deceased was identified as Ram Dular Yadav. He was a resident of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh. “We had received reports from the master of the ship, that the chief engineer collapsed early in the morning. The ship then berthed at the Paradip port and he was immediately taken to the port hospital where he was declared dead. The body has been seized and we have registered a case,” Smurti Ranjan Kar, the additional superintendent of police (Paradip), said.
“We have informed his family members and the body will be transported to his native village soon,” Kar added.
