BHUBANESWAR: The Space on Wheels exhibition organised by Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has become a major attraction for hundreds of schoolchildren in the city. The three-day exhibition started at Capital High School ground on Sunday where children will get to know about the space journey of Isro, and several milestones of India's space journey.

"It is amazing to know India's space journey and how Isro has been doing research on space science and technology. The interactive models are so interesting and self-explanatory," said Raghav Nath, a student of Class VII.

The exhibition was organised by Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition Centre in association with the science and technology and school and mass education department.

A bus housed scaled-down models of Isro launch vehicles while an exhibition near the bus displayed many models of launch vehicles like SLV, PSLV, GSLV satellites, Chandrayaan-I and II, Mangalayaan mission, Gaganayaan mission, Venus Orbiter Mission, Vikas Engine, Cryo statge NAVIC, extra planetary missions.

Besides, various scientific methods to execute the Chandrayaan and Magalayaan missions, information about the mission and challenges faced during the missions are shown through the screens installed in the vehicle with intricate and interesting details.

There were many interesting space photographs in the exhibition that will continue till February 14.

"The aim of the exhibition is to create awareness about space research, Isro's progress in space research among the children so that they become interested in pursuing higher education and make a career in space science when they grow up," said science and technology minister Ashok Chandra Panda. School and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash was also present at the inaugural event.

"Children showed so much interest to learn about different aspects of space science and asked questions to Isro scientists present at the venue. I am in awe of the models of satellites and rockets and how they are working," said Aliva Panda, a Class VIII student.
