The fresh two incidents to hit the headlines are alleged rape of a 32-year-old Dalit married woman under Patkura police limits in Kendrapada district and another of a minor girl by her school headmaster at Nilagiri in Balasore district. Singh demanded a ruling from the chair and a statement from the chief minister Naveen Patnaik on the issues.
The house soon plunged into pandemonium as other Congress members rushed to the well and shouted slogans against the government and forced the chair to adjourn the house after only two minutes business. With similar scenes continued when house reassembled for second time for the day, the chair adjourned the house for lunch.
In a related development, police on Thursday arrested two persons in the Dalit woman case and the headmaster in the Nilagiri case.
