Even though the water receded from the bridge, vehicular movement continued to remain affected as the water current displaced a huge PHED pipe passing over the bridge, obstructing the road. Normalcy was restored after the pipe was shifted from the road. The floodwater has entered the sanctum sanctorum of Mandhata Baba temple, Maneswar.

Some low-lying areas of the city, including Mandlia, Naxapal and Khandual, have been waterlogged. Water from drains was seen overflowing in Laxmi Talkies chowk.

Enforcement officer of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC), Subhankar Mohanty, said, "Sixty-one people have taken shelter in the two relief centres opened in the city."

Other parts of the district have also been affected due to the rain. "Waterlogging took place in 38 villages under 25 gram panchayats. Some kutcha houses have been partially damaged. The families have been provided tarpaulin.
