Police detain three on charges of raping 20-year-old woman in Subarnapur

Police have detained three men in Subarnapur district following a rape allegation. A 20-year-old woman reported being attacked on Friday evening. She stated miscreants accosted her, used an unknown substance to make her unconscious, and then assaulted her. Investigations are ongoing, and the woman's medical examination report is awaited. Authorities are treating the case with high priority.

Balangir: Police have detained three persons, including one on Saturday, for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman in Subarnapur district on Friday while she was returning home from work.“We registered a rape case based on the complaint filed by the woman. Investigation and questioning of the detainees are going on, and we will soon crack the case,” said Narayan Nayak, SP of Subarnapur.

According to the complaint, the survivor was accosted by three unidentified miscreants. In her complaint, she stated that the men attempted to assault her when she was returning from her workplace. When she resisted, they sprayed an unknown substance on her face, causing her to lose consciousness. She alleged that she was raped after she lost consciousness. The survivor regained consciousness and later made her way home, where she informed her family of her ordeal. Subsequently, a formal complaint was filed with police.Acting on the woman’s statement, police launched investigation and detained two suspects mentioned by the woman in her complaint. Subsequently, one more man, a distant relative of the woman, was detained.
“We are treating the survivor’s complaint with the highest priority and sensitivity. We are looking into all aspects of the case to establish the facts. Medical examination of the survivor has been conducted, and the report is awaited, which will be a crucial evidence in the case,” said Nayak.
