Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a series of pivotal projects related to agriculture and food sectors in Odisha on Oct 11. These initiatives aim to enhance and boost farmers’ income.
A preparatory meeting under the chairmanship of Union minister of agriculture and farmers’ welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was held on Thursday to discuss the success of the event. Agriculture ministers from across the country took part in the meeting.
The highlight of the event will be the launch of the , a comprehensive scheme designed to ensure food security and provide nutritious food to the populace while increasing farmers’ income. It will benefit over 50 lakh farmers.
In addition to this, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art wholesale fish market in Bhubaneswar and an integrated aqua park at Hirakud. These projects are anticipated to revolutionise the fisheries sector in Odisha.
The Prime Minister will address the nation via video conferencing from New Delhi, with the programme being live telecast across all Krishi Vigyan Kendras in Odisha. This will also include an interactive session with farmers.
Deputy chief minister and minister of agriculture and farmers’ empowerment K V Singh Deo, participated in the meeting and highlighted the state-level preparations, which are in their final stages. Singh Deo promised a seamless execution of the programme.
Union minister Chouhan emphasised the importance of self-reliance in the production of pulses and oilseeds, highlighting the record production of vegetables and food grains in the country this year.
The initiatives are expected to further bolster these achievements, paving the way for a more sustainable and prosperous agricultural sector. The meeting was attended by key officials, including principal secretary of the agriculture department A K Padhee.
