Bhubaneswar: A three-member delegation of the Central Waqf Council on Sunday wrapped up its three-day tour to the state after visiting several waqf properties and inviting proposals for their development. They also held discussions with government officials and sought their support in this regard.
“We have invited proposals from Odisha for protection, preservation and development of waqf properties.

We also assure to treat those proposals on priority,” said Wasim Khan, a council member and chairman of its development projects.
Khan and Nausad, also a council member, on Saturday jointly addressed a meeting in Cuttack of mutawalis, office bearers of mosques and darghas and other waqf institutions, and expected their active cooperation to develop waqf properties. Nausad told mutawalis that “Sahari Waqf Sampatti Yojana” offers Rs 2 crore loan facility with attractive mode of payment. Similarly their revolving fund provides loan assistance up to Rs 75 lakh, he said.
In another development, the Haj Committee of India extended the last date for remittance of the first instalment of Haj pilgrimage, around Rs 81,000, from May 6 to 10, official sources said.
A Haj official here said soon after deposit of the first instalment, the prospective pilgrim has to simultaneously submit necessary documents to the state Haj committee in Cuttack. Those documents include the cash deposit slip, passport, medical screening certificate and photos, the official said.
