SAMBALPUR: The National Commission for Women has asked police to register all crimes coming to its notice because it would help reducing it. Expressing concern over the deplorable condition of law enforcing agencies, NCW chairperson Anita Agnihotri told cops "Do not think about the increase in the volume of cases", while speaking at a seminar here on Saturday.
She asked government officials to work for the people. Agnihotri was also happy to visit Sambalpur because she had worked here in her initial years as an IAS career. She also spoke in Odia during her speech.
Expressing satisfaction over the treatment facilities provided to Pipli gang rape victim at SCB Medical College and Hospital, she said the government has made the best possible treatment available to the victim. "I visited the gang rape victim on Friday and was satisfied over the treatment," she said.
The high rate of female foeticide also troubled her. Agnihotri urged everyone to change the mindset. The chairperson of the State Commission for Women Jyoti Panigrahi was also present. The programme was chaired by principal of Sambalpur Women's College Santosh Dash.
