Pinaki Misra appointed BJD parliamentary party leader in Lok Sabha

Pinaki Misra

was appointed BJD’s parliamentary party leader in

Lok Sabha

on Sunday. Misra, also a Supreme Court lawyer, defeated BJP’s Sambit Patra in the recent Lok Sabha polls.

Misra, first elected to the Lok Sabha from

Puri

in 1996. He has been winning the seat in 2009, 2014 and 2019.

“Deeply grateful to the party and Hon’ble Chief Minister @Naveen_Odisha for having reposed faith in me as the Lok Sabha parliamentary party leader. I shall make every earnest endeavour to repay the faith in full measure for #Odisha’s benefit.We shall all work as a cohesive team,” tweeted Pinaki.



The party has appointed its Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samanta as chief whip while Kendrapada MP Anubhav Mohanty has been appointed as deputy chief whip in Lok Sabha.

Six-time BJD MP from Cuttack Bhartruhari Mahtab, who was the leader of the party in Lok Sabha in the previous government, may head a parliamentary standing committee, which will be allotted to BJD.
