“Our raid is underway at seven locations linked to Santanu Mohapatra, currently posted as deputy director, watershed wing in Malkangiri district. We recovered the cash from his house at Jeypore in Koraput district,” a vigilance officer said.

The anti-corruption directorate suspected that Mohapatra amassed huge proportionate assets by misappropriating govt funds and receiving kickbacks from contractors for implementation of projects in backward tribal-dominated Malkangiri district.

“We have detained him for interrogation. Valuation of his immovable property is being ascertained. His bank accounts and other investments are being examined,” the vigilance officer said.
