Odisha: Two teachers detained for gang rape of 11-year-old student
KORAPUT: Police have detained two teachers of a government-run residential school in Nabarangpur district on charges of gang raping an 11-year-old female student of Class 5. Police said the incident had taken place on Tuesday but it came to light after the rape survivor's father filed a complaint on Thursday. In his complaint, the father said that his daughter, who is a day scholar at the school which is meant for SC and ST students, was raped by the two on Tuesday during school hours.
The father stated that the two accused teacher lured his daughter to the school's toilet and raped her there.
Necessary action will be taken once we complete our interrogation of the duo, a police officer said.
"The district welfare officer has been directed for an inquiry into the incident and stringent action will be taken against the accused after we get the inquiry report," Nabarangpur collector Kamal Lochan Mishra said.
