SAMBALPUR/BHUBANESWAR: Four wheels of a coach of the Jharsuguda-Sambalpur MEMU (08169) came off track after the train hit cattle under the Sarla-Sambalpur section of Sambalpur Railway Division on Wednesday evening.
No injury has been reported in the incident.
As per a statement issued by the office of the divisional railway manager (DRM), Sambalpur, the cattle suddenly came in front of the train.
The wheels of the fourth coach from the front engine came off the track after the train hit cattle. The incident happened at around 6.25pm on Wednesday.
The DRM, Sambalpur, Vineet Singh and his team reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
An Accident Relief Train consisting of relief materials for the restoration along with medical equipment has immediately reached the spot.
One line was blocked after the derailment. It took two hours for restoration of the track. “The re-railment work was completed at 8.30pm.
Track was declared fit at 8.35pm with caution speed of 30km per hour for train movement,” said an official statement of the East Coast Railway (ECoR).
