Odisha doctor held after car rams into scooter, injures 4

Himanshu Jha, a doctor at Barbil's government hospital, was arrested for allegedly hitting a scooter with his car while reportedly drunk. The crash injured four people, including two children. The incident took place on the Barbil-Nalda road. Local residents apprehended Jha as he attempted to flee and handed him over to the police.

KEONJHAR: Himanshu Jha (28), a doctor at the govt hospital in Barbil, was arrested for allegedly crashing his car into a scooter, injuring four persons, two of them children.
Sources said Md Farooq, his wife Ajmari Khaton, nephew Faht Ali (11) and niece Sadia Parwin (6) were returning from the market on their scooter on Monday evening when Jha, allegedly drunk, hit the scooter on the Barbil-Nalda road.

The passengers fell from the scooter and suffered injuries. As the doctor tried to flee, the scooter got stuck to the car's front wheel and was dragged for around 800 metres.
Locals hand over doctor to police
Local residents apprehended the doctor and handed him over to the police. He was arrested on Tuesday evening. The injured were taken to Barbil community health centre. Ajmari and Sadia were later referred to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, as their condition worsened.
